Planning Reform Proposals – An Update

Following on from our Head of Planning Stuart Tym’s review of the direction of travel in planning law and The Queens Speech on 23 June 2017 the Commons Library Paper on Planning Reform Proposals has been updated, click here to read it.

The “Next Steps” are listed as

• the Government has indicated that a consultation on proposals for a standardised approach to assessing housing requirements would be published later in July 2017.

and

• that changes to planning policy in the NPPF might be made towards the end of the year.

It remains unclear where this leaves the rest of the Housing White Paper or the proposed changes to the CIL Regime. The Government is also yet to confirm whether it will take forward the proposals from its Manifesto.
