About Rick:

Rick is a partner in the Corporate team at Wilkes, with nearly 30 years of expertise in mid-market corporate finance transactions. He specialises in leading mergers and acquisitions (M&A), EOT’s, MBO’s, banking, private equity, and investment transactions, handling 8-10 major deals annually. Rick has personally led over 300 transactions within the £5m-50m enterprise value range. In addition, Rick has extensive experience in group reorganisations, tax restructuring, shareholder protection and employee incentives such as EMI and other share option schemes.

Rick also heads up the firms’ Core Compliance Team – helping OMB’s become compliant in the core compliance area’s such as Anti-Bribery and Corruption, Anti-Modern Slavery, Competition, as well as the Companies Act 2006.

Rick also leads the firm’s Exit Optimisation Programme for owner managers, assisting them to prepare for exit and ensure that they optimise both value and the chances of a successful exit. To join one of our Workshops

 

Credentials

Recognised in the 2025 Legal 500 as a key lawyer, Rick frequently collaborates with departments such as Employment, Real Estate, and Private Client. His recent work includes advising on the award-winning sale of Star Group Live to LDC and the management buyout of Stalis Limited.

Rick is also a former regional chairman and committee member of KidsOut (Midlands) – raising funds and support for children in refuges and their families across the UK. A keen musician, Rick is also key member of the corporate finance charity group ‘Demons of Tune,’ which has helped to raise over £300K for good causes over the last 20 years through live music events.
