About Joel:

Joel Blake previously studied at the University of Law in Birmingham before completing his training contract at Wilkes. After successfully completing his training contract at Wilkes in January 2022, Joel secured a position within our esteemed Birmingham Private Client Team. Joel specialises in Trusts and Trusts Administration, Wills and Tax Planning, Probate and Estate Administration and Lasting Power of Attorney.

 

 

Credentials

Joel is actively involved in initiatives aimed at fostering diversity and supporting aspiring legal professionals. As a dedicated professional ambassador for Aspiring Solicitors, Joel actively contributes to increasing diversity within the legal profession by assisting law students in their career pursuits. His ongoing pursuit of professional development is evident in his endeavor to obtain STEP qualification, representing the industry’s gold standard. Joel’s commitment to diversity and inclusion extends beyond his role as an ambassador; in April, he participated in a panel discussion at Birmingham City University on behalf of Birmingham Black Lawyers, sharing his journey and offering inspiration to aspiring lawyers. Furthermore, Joel’s contributions have earned him recognition in the form of various awards, including being shortlisted for Young Black Lawyer at the Birmingham Black Lawyers Awards in 2022, winning ‘Student of the Year 2017’ at the University of Law’s 21st Anniversary celebration, and being a finalist for Young Male Professional of the Year at the Phoenix Business Awards in 2023.
