Solihull Chamber of Commerce held their 12th Annual Awards Lunch at the Birmingham Metropole on Friday 16 October, which recognises success and achievement and honours star employees from local businesses.
Ann-Marie Aston of The Wilkes Partnership was entered in to the individual category for Career Development, a category that recognises an employee who has shown exceptional self motivated career development beyond expectations.
From the many entries received Ann-Marie was selected to be a finalist and invited to the awards lunch, and she was awarded second prize.
Ann-Marie has shown great versatility through her career, not least studying chemical engineering at university which led to her having a patent in her name for inventing new hydrogen generation technology. Ann-Marie then decided to change career and venture into the legal world.
Ann-Marie started her legal career as a part time secretary whilst studying part time to eventually become admitted as a solicitor. Not content to rest on her laurels she then undertook a 2 year course of advance study, finishing in 2014 to become admitted as a Notary Public.
This year has seen Ann-Marie promoted to position of Senior Associate, and has spent the last 6 months as acting head of department in the absence of a partner on her maternity leave.
